Multi-Source Drinking Water System

Advanced Ultrafiltration Water Treatment System | Simondium, Western Cape

PROJECT SUMMARY

Greenchain Group designed and delivered an advanced multi-source drinking water treatment system for Klein Babylonstoren, supporting the water requirements of a working farm with food processing, packhouse facilities, offices and accommodation.

The fully integrated treatment plant produces up to 8,500 litres per hour of reliable drinking water through advanced ultrafiltration technology and intelligent automation. The system provides consistent potable water quality while giving operators complete visibility of plant performance through Greenchain Group's proprietary monitoring and control platform.

A key feature of the installation is its ability to treat multiple water sources, including surface water, dam water, river water and borehole water. This flexibility allows the farm to select the most suitable source according to seasonal conditions and water availability, supporting reliable operation throughout the year.

THE CHALLENGE

Working farms with diverse operational requirements depend on reliable drinking water infrastructure to support food production, workplace facilities and accommodation.

Klein Babylonstoren required a drinking water treatment system capable of producing consistent potable water while adapting to changing source water conditions throughout the year. The solution needed to provide operational flexibility, automated control and continuous monitoring to support efficient farm management.

THE SOLUTION

Greenchain Group designed and delivered a customised multi-source drinking water treatment system tailored to the farm's operational requirements.

The treatment process incorporates advanced ultrafiltration membrane technology, enabling the system to treat water from multiple sources, including surface water, dam water, river water and borehole water. This approach provides the flexibility to select the most suitable available source while maintaining consistent drinking water quality.

The intelligent PLC-based control system automates plant operation, while Greenchain Group's proprietary monitoring platform provides continuous visibility of key operating parameters and system performance.

Following commissioning, Greenchain Group continues to support the installation through a structured Service Level Agreement, including preventative maintenance, potable water testing, calibration, membrane maintenance and technical support to maintain long-term system performance.
